Sigma Lambda Gamma Today
Sigma Lambda Gamma believes that Culture is Pride, Pride is Success. We celebrate the diversity of the backgrounds of all the members of our sorority. Through these efforts in cultural awareness, we expect that each woman will explore their roots and traditions and share those with other individuals so that cultural understanding and respect are promoted. We hope to create new traditions for future generations of women to celebrate their identity and heritage with pride and joy throughout the college years.
Our Founding Mothers broke the barriers of traditional sororities to create an organization for women of every cultural and socioeconomic background. In staying true to our foundation, Sigma Lambda Gamma is proud to say that we have over 110 nationalities in our membership. In the world map below, a country colored in either pink or purple denotes a country of origin for our sorority membership.
The entities of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. are categorized into three groups: undergraduate colonies, undergraduate chapters and alumnae associations.
Undergraduate members, both in colonies and chapters, comprise the largest segment of our membership.
In a short span of time, our sorority experiences a phenomenal growth in universities where women recognize the continuous need for our foundation and the benefits of membership with our organization.
Alumnae members work in many fields such as accounting, architecture, business administration, education, engineering, financial services, higher education administrators, human resources, journalism, law, law enforcement, medicine/health, nursing, real estate, social services and television production to name a few. Other alumnae are entrepreneurs, have advanced degrees, work in the non-profit sector, public administration and hold offices in the political realm. Many alumnae members remain active as community leaders and are the key to the empowerment of women. They also serve as a cornerstone to our historical beginnings, sorority traditions and provide enthusiastic support for the continued development and advancement of the national organization.
